Ice hall at Sandviken's Jernvallen, a 1938 sports ground that hosted World Cup football in 1958
No public skating is posted for the next 7 days. New sessions show here as soon as the rink posts them.
The ice hall sits on the Jernvallen sports grounds in Sandviken. Jernvallen was built in 1938 and was then Europe's most modern sports facility. Two matches of the 1958 football World Cup were played here, Hungary against Wales and Hungary against Mexico, when it could hold 20,000. It is the northernmost arena ever to host World Cup football.
The grounds also hosted the bandy world championship in 2017, when Sweden took gold, and a curling world championship in Göransson Arena, which was a gift from the Göransson foundations.
Today the area has grass pitches, indoor and outdoor bandy ice, a bowling hall, Göransson Arena, Ferrum Arena, the ice hall and a skate park. Sandvikens AIK plays bandy and football here, and in the ice hall there is a café run by Sandvikens ishockeyklubb.
