Sanok had an ice rink called Torsan from 1968. The new Arena Sanok was designed by the architect Wojciech Gęsiak of Radom and built between September 2004 and January 2006; its cost of 22.6 million zł was met mainly by the then Ministry of Education and Sport. It opened on 11 April 2006 with an ice hockey match between Poland and Hungary, and won the First Degree Prize and the title Construction of the Year in Podkarpacie for 2006.
The ice measures 30 by 60 metres, and the hall has nine dressing rooms, three cafés and a conference room. A record crowd of 4,500 filled it for the Polish Cup finals in December 2011.
The arena hosted the Under-18 World Championship Division I in 2007 and also stages concerts, among them Maryla Rodowicz in September 2008.
