Built for Christmas 1985 with state and municipal money and a large volunteer effort
Currently out of season Sarpsborg kommune's page (published 9 February 2026, so last season's) says the ice is laid from about the second weekend of November and runs to the end of February, weather permitting, with set free public times; no 2026/27 opening date is posted yet. Checked on 4 October 2026. Official schedule update
The kunstisbane next to Sarpsborg stadion was laid out and taken into use from Christmas 1985. It was paid for with state and municipal money and a large volunteer effort by the bandy section of Sarpsborg Fotballklubb and by IL National. A small standing terrace was built on one side afterwards, and the field has floodlights. It is an outdoor rink, so the ice depends on the weather.
On Sundays during public hours the rink is divided in two: one side where sticks may be used and one where skaters can move safely without them. Public times can be cut short because of bandy matches. The rink sits beside the stadium that opened in 1930 and is the home ground of Sarpsborg 08.
