Sejong's first winter-sports rink, built barrier-free
The Bandabi ice rink opened on 23 December 2024 and runs all year. It is the first ice rink in Sejong, a city that had no winter-sports facilities, and its operators describe it as the country's first rink designed for disabled and non-disabled skaters to share, with a Barrier Free certification.
The building has two floors above ground and one below, 4,657 square metres of floor space and 304 spectator seats around a single 30 by 61 metre sheet. Two team locker rooms, a hire room, a sharpening room and a pro shop sit beside the ice, and a water-exercise room shares the building.
Besides public skating, the rink aims to let people enjoy figure skating, short track and ice hockey close to home and to give young skaters who dream of a winter-sports career a better place to train.
