Vilans ishall: Skara's all-year ice, with a small rink for the youngest
Vilans ishall in Skara is open all year, and the kommun says the air inside is always 10 degrees. The hall has two rinks, a big one measuring 60 by 30 metres and a small one of 30 by 12 metres. The big hockey rink has a standing stand for 350 spectators. The small ice is where the youngest skaters go, and no sticks are allowed on it.
On the big ice, schools and local clubs hold their training and matches, and the ice usually belongs to the schools until the afternoon, after which the figure skating and ice hockey clubs take over. In summer the hall is a very popular place for training camps among Swedish ice hockey and figure skating clubs. The kommun sums the hall up as generous accessibility and a comfortable temperature, with ice hockey and figure skating at the centre.
