A 12,000 square metre outdoor rink inside Skien Fritidspark
The skating rink at Skien Fritidspark covers 12,000 square metres outdoors, is open to big and small, active and recreational skaters, and is prepared every morning. Around it stand several lavvo tents where visitors can grill and keep warm, and indoors the rink has its own café with 80 seats. The park is built around Skienshallen, and the then prime minister Jens Stoltenberg opened the facility in June 2008.
Beside the rink is the park's ice hall, 4,000 square metres with an ice hockey rink of standard size, three curling lanes and stands for 900 people. It is the home arena of Skien Ishockeyklubb, which has its clubhouse in the hall. In winter the hall is opened on selected days so that visitors can skate indoors whatever the weather.
