The only ice hall in the Wipptal and Stubaital

The ice hall in Steinach am Brenner was built in the 1990s and is the only ice hall in the Wipptal and Stubaital. It was not built only for ice stock sport, the municipality says: several clubs and schools use it, and schools from the whole Wipptal come at reduced rates. The rink is too small for league hockey games, but friendly matches and training work.

The roof has been renovated, the cooling hoses and boards replaced, and all the lighting changed to LED. Joining the Freizeitticket Tirol is said to have raised visitor numbers markedly.

From November to February there is public skating every day and a weekly ice disco for families, and in summer inline hockey is played. The hall also serves as an event venue; the local Schützen company held the Wipptal battalion festival there.
