Straubing's Eisstadion am Pulverturm, opened in 1967 as an artificial-ice ground

The Eisstadion am Pulverturm began as a natural-ice rink in the 1950s. The city provided the site by the Eisweiher, the former natural-ice stadium, and in November 1967 the new artificial-ice stadium was officially opened, at first as an open-air ground with stands.

A roof followed for the 1976/77 season, built with its east side open to meet the rules of the time. In 1981 the stadium passed into the city's ownership when the ice hockey department split from the TSV Straubing and the EHC Straubing was founded. The south stand was rebuilt in 2001/02.

Since the 2006/07 season, with the Straubing Tigers' promotion, the stadium has met the requirements for games in the DEL, the top German league. It has one ice surface, and the city also runs public skating there.
