Club-owned artificial-ice arena on the Schießstätte since 2007, after decades of natural ice

The KunsteisArena has been the home of the Eissport-Club Tegernsee since 2007. The club owns the newly built arena, which stands on the Schießstätte, where it had earlier played on a natural ice rink. At one time thousands of spectators made the trip to the Schießstätte for hockey, and a veteran of those years was the first person to skate in the new arena.
Tegernsee hockey is older than the club. In autumn 1949 the EV Tegernsee won the Bavarian Landesliga and beat HC Stuttgart in a qualifier for the Oberliga, then the top league in Germany, before losing a relegation game to EV Rosenheim in 1950-51 and dropping back down. The Eissportclub Tegernsee, founded in 1952, carried hockey on and played in Bavarian leagues until at least 1993-94.
The hockey section still runs. Its team has played in a hobby league since 2011-12 and won four titles in a row there. The club also has an ice stock department that shares the ice.
