A natural-ice rink the club calls the biggest in the Netherlands, run by a village ice club

IJsclub Terheijden runs a natural-ice rink on the Laakdijk that the club describes as the largest in the Netherlands, at 40,000 m2. Skating is never certain: the club notes that in some winters the weather gods do not manage to give the rink enough ice.

Its cards are sold in November at two village bakeries, one in Terheijden and one in Wagenberg. Buying a card guarantees that you may skate on the first day the rink opens, and being a member keeps the club alive so that it can open whenever the ice allows.

The club's news looks back on short ice periods: one winter there were three beautiful days of skating before the club closed the season, and another time the club reported that the weather gods had not given the rink enough ice to open.
