A city pool that becomes a full-size rink each winter

Aquarena Toyohashi, opened in May 2006, is a large sports building where the pool serves summer and ice skating serves winter. Its rink measures 60 by 30 metres and is run mainly for general skating, while also meeting the needs of ice hockey, short track and figure skating.

The 50 by 25 metre competition pool next door has a movable floor split into four sections, so its depth can be changed between 0.3 and 2 metres. Around 2,011 fixed seats look down on the hall, and the main facilities include a 25 metre pool, a children's pool, a training room and meeting rooms.

The pool and rink take turns: skating runs from November to the May Golden Week holidays, and the building closes its pools and ice for the changeover work in October and again from Golden Week to the end of May.
