Utsunomiya's city skate center, ice from October to mid-May and a hall floor in summer
Utsunomiya City Skate Center reopened on 1 December 2025 after renovation work. It is a seasonal rink: the ice is in from 1 October to 15 May, and from 1 June to 31 August the same hall serves as a sports floor, with September and the second half of May used to change over.
Gloves are compulsory on the ice. The centre lends figure, hockey and half-speed skates, and has a rest corner with vending machines for drinks and ice cream and a meeting room for about 50 people. High school students and younger who live or study in the city skate free by showing a student card.
The centre is run by the company O-ence under the city's designated-manager system, in place since April 2014. A tournament can shorten or cancel public skating on a day, as on 10 and 25 October, and the monthly sheet shows each change. The rink is closed on Wednesdays in October, November, April and May.
