Mass skating, hockey and figure skating in the capital of North Ossetia-Alania
The Ice Arena in Vladikavkaz calls itself the first ice palace in the North Caucasus. It is run as a state sports and wellness complex and was built for hockey, figure skating, short track and mass skating, with stands for 340 spectators.
Its most unusual feature is the roof, an inflatable fabric dome held up by constant air pressure. Quiet fans keep the dome taut and hold the temperature and humidity in the hall at a comfortable level, so the ice stays in good condition whatever the weather outside.
Beside the rink the complex has changing rooms, showers, a massage room, a gym, a sauna and a café. The hall also hosts shows, concerts and mass events, and figure skating and hockey schools train on the same ice. Public sessions are posted on the rink's schedule page.
