Opened 8 November 1975 under a 55-metre timber roof; Raiffeisen Arena since 2016
The Eissporthalle Waldkraiburg was officially opened on 8 November 1975, but skating in the town is older. The Stadtwerke let residents skate on a simple surface in the Waldbad as early as 1964, an 80 by 30 metre rink was laid out in front of the former Volksfesthalle in 1968, and in 1971 a modern artificial ice rink followed close to the Jahnstadion.
The roofed hall of 1975 has an ice surface of 30 by 60 metres under a distinctive roof of 13 glued-laminated timber beams that span 55 metres. The building cost about 3.5 million Deutsche Mark, two thirds of it funded by the state and the federal government, and a bowling alley with four lanes and a 21-stand shooting range were built beneath the stands.
Over the decades the hall hosted ice-stock world championships in 2012 and European championships in 2024, and in 2016 the EHC Waldkraiburg rose to the Oberliga. Since the boards were renewed with the help of a local bank, the hall has carried the name Raiffeisen Arena.
