The Ice House: Wedemark's ARS Arena and home of the Hannover Scorpions
The Eisstadion in Mellendorf belongs to the ARS Arena, the events centre in the heart of the Wedemark, and the municipality and the rink have been tied to ice hockey since the 1970s. The ARS Arena can host groups of 30 to 300 people for events.
The hall, called the Ice House, is the home rink of the Oberliga team Hannover Scorpions. Several youth teams of the ESC Wedemark Scorpions train and play there, and the youngest children can learn to skate and play hockey in a Laufschule. The ice-hockey offer runs from professional hockey as a spectator sport through youth work to several hobby teams.
On Thursday evenings a live DJ turns the ice into a club for the Eis Disco, which has no age limit and a laser and light show.
