A club rink from 1972 beside the football stadium
The Wiener Neustädter Eislaufverein was founded as a non-profit club in 1967 by Baurat Friedrich Fellerer, Olympic champion Sissy Schwarz-Bollenberger and local officials. The artificial-ice rink was built in 1971 with support from the ministry, the province of Lower Austria and the city, and opened in 1972. It has served children, young people, ice-hockey players, figure skaters and ice-stock shooters ever since.
A general renovation of the building followed in 1999, when the new ice resurfacer was christened "Traude", and in 2003 an inline-hockey and roller-skating area was added beside the ice for the summer. The rink lies on Giltschwertgasse next to the football stadium and welcomes its 55th season in 2026/27. On Saturday or Sunday afternoons the club runs a children's disco.
