IJsclub Wissenkerke: the Bokkegat, a sheltered nature-reserve rink run by volunteers on Noord-Beveland
Currently out of season IJsclub Wissenkerke's natural-ice rink the Bokkegat, at the end of the Dorpsdijk in Wissenkerke (Noord-Beveland), is closed for now: its home page says 'De schaatsbaan is nu gesloten' and asks visitors to watch the site when it freezes. The opening-hours page says that on skating days the aim is to open from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays, with the evening hours to 21:30 when the floodlights allow, and that the board can close the rink at any moment. No sessions are listed here. Checked 11 October 2026. Official schedule update
IJsclub Wissenkerke calls the Bokkegat the nicest rink on Noord-Beveland. In the winter months this beautifully situated nature area is the meeting place for skaters from far around, sheltered from a cold east wind, often sunny, with well-kept koek en zopie, cheerful music, a toilet, and tents with benches. Lighting is available for the evening hours.
The location is managed by Staatsbosbeheer, the Dutch forestry service, and rented in winter by the skating club. When the rink is open it has a lot of facilities: koek en zopie, a tent, a toilet, first aid, music and the like.
The club's news shows how careful it is with the ice: in January 2024 the surface looked beautiful but at just under 6 cm it was too thin to open officially, and the club asks skaters who go on at their own risk to remember that the support is insufficient for many people.

When it is busy the roads around the rink are made one-way; visitors are asked to follow this and to park so that emergency services can pass normally.
