A 1919 ice club on the Het Hag grounds in Zenderen, with 589 members for life

IJsclub Zenderen was founded in 1919. Its first races were held on the Vleer and the Braamhaarsveen, where today the Azelo loop of the A1 motorway lies. In 1922 the club gained the use of its present grounds at Het Hag.

Later the rink was enlarged with a 400 metre track and, on a small budget, a weir was built in the Azelerbeek and an ice tent put up. The present clubhouse dates from 1959, with a toilet block added in 1973. After 50 years all the window frames had to be replaced, a job finished in the summer of 2010.

A member who buys the season card for 25 years in a row receives a certificate and lifetime membership. At the moment 589 people are members for life.
