Kentucky's only city-owned ice rink
The Edge Ice Center is one of only four ice rinks in the state of Kentucky, and the only one of the four that a city owns: the City of Owensboro.
Two local organisations make it their home. The Owensboro Youth Hockey Association calls the Edge its home rink and runs recreational and travel hockey for players aged 4 to 17; its travel teams skate as the Rampage. The Owensboro Figure Skating Club picks up where the rink's Learn-to-Skate program leaves off, giving its members both a recreational and a competitive track.
The rink shut during the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened for public sessions in October 2020 with restrictions in place. Opening on New Year's Day is a tradition here. In September 2026 the rink announced Hockey on the Ohio, a college tournament set for October 9 to 11, 2026, in which four American Collegiate Hockey Association teams, Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay State, West Virginia and Wright State, play six games over three days.

Admission
All admission fees include skate rental and any applicable fees and taxes. Fall/Winter evening sessions (Friday and Saturday 7:30-9:30 p.m.) and daytime sessions (Saturday and Sunday 1:00-3:00 p.m.) are $7.00, or $6.00 with your own skates. Grown Up & Me Skate (4th Monday) is $7 per child, parent/guardian free. Sensory Skate (4th Monday) is $7.00. Homeschool Skate (1st & 3rd Friday) is $5.00. Groups of 10+: $5.00 each. Guardian/spectator fee: $2.00.
Public-session tickets are sold at the rink or by phone; there is no online ticketing for walk-in public skate. Passes are available: individual passes run $95 (3 months) or $170 (6 months), a family pass (up to 4 members) is $225 or $320, and 5- or 10-visit punch cards cost $30 or $55.
Skaters under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older at all times. A monthly Grown Up & Me Skate lets a parent/guardian/caregiver skate free while guiding a child up to age 5 ($7 per child); a Homeschool Skate runs twice monthly for $5.
A monthly Sensory Skate offers a calmer public session -- lower or no music, a smaller crowd, and a more predictable atmosphere -- described as welcoming to autistic skaters and others with sensory processing differences, ADHD, or developmental disabilities. The rink also welcomes all abilities in its Learn to Skate program and asks skaters needing accommodations to contact the facilities manager.
