Opened in 1973 as an arena, community centre and curling rink; home of the BCHL Langley Rivermen since 2016
The George Preston Recreation Centre opened in 1973 as the Langley Civic Center, built as a combined arena, community centre and curling rink. It was renamed in May 2005 in honour of George Preston, and the Township of Langley later took over its management from Recreation Excellence.
Junior hockey arrived in 2016, when the BCHL's Langley Rivermen began their first season at the building. Ahead of it the exterior was redone to look like a lodge, with work on humidity and ice conditions, new arena lighting and a new video display. The Pacific Junior Hockey League's Langley Trappers also play their home games here.
A project that began in 2018 added office space and a new multi-purpose room. It also replaced the plumbing, heating and cooling systems and some roofing, and built a new change room for the dry floor arena and renovated the upper curling rink lounge, while the main rink was essentially left alone. The centre hosted the 2020 Canadian Junior Curling Championships.
