A multipurpose civic arena built by the City and Sauk Centre Youth Hockey in 1994 and 1996
Currently out of season The City of Sauk Centre's Civic Arena page says the skating season begins in mid October and concludes in early March, but its open skate schedule still lists the February 2025 dates, so no public sessions are shown here yet. The page prints the open skate and open hockey fees. Official schedule update
Since the mid 1970s, high school and youth hockey players in Sauk Centre had wanted an indoor ice sheet. That wish came true in January 1994 with the completion of Phase I of the Civic Arena, which the City of Sauk Centre and the Sauk Centre Youth Hockey Association built together as a multipurpose facility.
Phase II followed in 1996, adding electrical upgrades and refrigeration equipment for a quality sheet of ice. The Sauk Centre Youth Hockey Program fields five levels of teams for ages four to fourteen, and the Prairie Centre North Stars are the local high school program.
The main floor has more than 17,000 square feet of open space, and the upper mezzanine adds 2,500 square feet of meeting space. The building is not equipped for summer ice, so outside the ice season it is used for a wide variety of other events.
