Town of Highgate rink, Kraft Hockeyville top-10 finalist in 2015, home ice for Missisquoi and Milton hockey
Highgate Sports Arena is the Town of Highgate's municipal rink in Highgate, Vermont, run by the town's Parks and Recreation department. The town and its recreation commission spent several years planning an update to the aging building. Its record includes a top-10 finish in the 2015 Kraft Hockeyville contest and a fresh sheet of ice laid in October 2017.
The ice is home to the Missisquoi Amateur Hockey Association and the Missisquoi Valley Union High School boys and girls teams, and Milton High School and the Milton Youth Hockey Association skate here as well. MAHA's ice time starts again in late September 2026, and a beginner women's hockey clinic runs in fall 2026. The building stays busy in summer as well as winter: once the ice comes out, the floor is turfed for the off-season.
Phase 1 of that update finished in January 2026, giving the arena a new entrance and vestibule, a new front office and a new polyethylene roof that holds more heat in the building through the winter. A Municipal Energy Resilience Program grant received in 2025 covered part of the cost. Later phases are planned for the building’s exterior.
