Run by the Great Falls Community Ice Foundation

The Great Falls Ice Plex belongs to the Great Falls Community Ice Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. It arrived after a gap: for two years Great Falls had no ice at all, and the youth hockey program suffered for it. By October 2018 the rink was in its tenth year of operation, and youth hockey was described as only just starting to recover.

The sheet is shared by the Great Falls Amateur Hockey Association and the Great Falls Figure Skating Club, and it is the home of the Great Falls Americans, a USA Hockey Tier III Junior A team in the North American 3 Hockey League. Listed capacity for Americans games is 1,500.

The building is now due for its first major work since it opened. The foundation's five-phase master plan starts with new locker rooms, replacing the small, unheated rooms at the south end that were built as temporaries and do not meet the standards for sanctioned hockey tournaments or figure skating competitions, plus an airlock entrance to keep the winter weather outside. Phase two adds a heated concourse and a glass entry that will light the front of the building at night. Foundation president Teresa Gunn said the group had become, despite COVID, stable enough financially to begin.

Public admission is $8 adult, $5 for youth 6-17, and free for ages 5 and younger.
