Billings' first two-sheet ice arena, opened in 2026
Signal Peak Energy Arena opened in July 2026 after years of planning and fundraising and 18 months of construction. It gave Billings two sheets of ice for the first time and replaced the Centennial Ice Arena, which opened in 1981 and had a history of serious maintenance problems and an aging refrigeration system. After a larger recreation-center proposal failed to win voter approval, the arena went ahead as a public-private partnership in which the city created pad sites for organizations to build on.
The Marquee Rink has 1,200 fixed seats, overlooked by a heated mezzanine of about 20,000 square feet. The building has eleven community locker rooms, including the state's first designated female locker room, and both rinks are built to be sled-hockey friendly. It is home to the Billings Cattle Punchers, Montana's newest junior team in the North American Hockey League, who play 30 home games here.
