Pekin Park District's ice arena in Mineral Springs Park

Veterans Memorial Arena is the Pekin Park District's ice rink in Mineral Springs Park, one of the district's facilities alongside the Miller Senior Center, Parkside Athletics and two golf courses. The building puts more than 34,800 square feet under one roof, and the district's gym and dance studios share it with the ice. The rink itself is a 200-by-85-foot USA Hockey regulation sheet with room for 1,500 spectators.

Four hockey organizations call Veterans Memorial Arena home: the Pekin Dragons Hockey Club, the Pekin Amateur Hockey Association, the Pekin Flyers AAU Hockey Program and the Central Illinois Sled Hockey Association. Pekin Youth Hockey also names it as its home rink.

Figure skating has its own team in the building. Precise Ice, founded in 1987 by Pekin resident Jean Provin, practices here with junior and senior squads. One season closed with a Precise Ice show at the arena on March 11 and an intermission performance at a Peoria Rivermen game the next day. Coach LeMere has joked that if an Olympic skater had ever started out in Pekin, their picture would be up at the arena.
