Built for the 1992 Winter Olympics

The Halle Olympique d'Albertville was built for the figure skating and short-track speed skating events of the 1992 Winter Olympics, and its main element is the ice rink. After the Games the hall kept its rink and gained tennis courts and a climbing wall. It is run by the Arlysère agglomeration.

A renovation between 2013 and 2015 moved the rink, though it kept its Olympic dimensions of 60 by 30 metres. The old ice and stands became an events hall for fairs, concerts, shows and sports events.

Two clubs are resident: the Olympique Glace Club Albertville for figure skating and short track, and the Hockey Club Albertville for ice hockey. The French short-track and ice hockey teams train here regularly, and the French short-track championships were held on this ice in April 2010. Visitors can also watch from the stands upstairs during public sessions.
