Olympic rink built in 1974 as the first building of Amnéville's leisure centre
The Olympic rink in Amnéville-les-Thermes was built in 1974 as the first building created by the town's mayor, Dr Jean Kiffer, on a former slag heap that later became a thermal resort. The rink sits within the leisure centre, and the municipal pool beside it is also among the original installations.
The Club Amnévillois des Sports de Glace, founded in 1979, practises on the ice. Its ice school and groups run from beginners to regional, federal and national competitors, and the club holds the Ecole Française des Sports de Glace label. The rink also hosts ice hockey and figure skating competitions.
The club's traditional end-of-year gala has gathered skaters, families and friends at the rink, as it did one Sunday in December 2014, and its Club Cup has filled the ice again.
