A 200-square-metre real-ice rink in a park, run free of charge by the Keçiören municipality
Ahmet Çalık Buz Pateni Pisti is a real-ice rink of about 200 square metres in Keçiören, Ankara. It stands in a park in the Ovacık neighbourhood that the municipality built in 2022 on a plot of roughly 4,972 square metres, and the park also has a tennis court, a skatepark, a children's play area and rest areas.
Keçiören Belediyesi runs the rink free of charge, and it works by appointment. Sessions last 30 minutes with at most 20 skaters on the ice, and each person can take one session a day. On weekdays everyone aged 5 and over can skate; at weekends, and during school holidays, the rink is reserved for children and teenagers aged 5 to 17.
The municipality reports around 800 to 1,000 skaters a week, and schools and nurseries can apply for group sessions. The rink is open six days a week and closes on Mondays for maintenance.
