Caen's 1,800 m² Olympic rink, home of the Drakkars

The Caen la mer rink sits in the middle of Caen next to the Stade nautique Eugène-Maës. Its Olympic ice sheet covers 1,800 square metres and is open from September to June; the rink closes in July and August. The Caen la mer urban community, which runs it, reserves the right to change hours around competitions and works.

Two clubs share the ice. The Drakkars de Caen, the Hockey Club de Caen's team, have played in Division 1 since 2015, and the club also runs a hockey school for ages 4 to 11, a sports-class section and a recreational section. ACSEL covers figure skating, with an ice school for children, teenagers and adults, a competition section and synchronised skating.

Besides lessons and animations, the rink offers themed evenings and family sessions on Sunday mornings, and the site is accessible to disabled visitors throughout.
