A winter rink at a 1702 half-timbered forester's house on the edge of the Frankfurt city forest
Currently out of season The Frankfurter Haus in Neu-Isenburg announces its skating rink for 15 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, open daily from 11:30, with an ice-stock lane beside it. Checked 8 October 2026. Official schedule update
The Frankfurter Haus was built in 1702 by the free imperial city of Frankfurt on the border with Neu-Isenburg to protect its city forest from poachers. At its core it is a baroque half-timbered house, built as a forester's lodge inside a walled compound. As was usual, the forester was allowed to serve beer and wine, and the lodge grew into an inn that the people of Neu-Isenburg visited mostly for Sunday dancing; the old dance café lives on in the JOSS bar. Since a thorough renovation in 2022 the house shines again, standing on the edge of the Frankfurt city forest, a stone's throw from Neu-Isenburg.
Every winter the house adds a skating rink and an ice-stock lane, open daily from 11:30 from mid-November to the end of January, in the middle of its Christmas market. On 20 December the house adds live piano, a Christmas choir and a figure-skating show on the rink.
