Open to the weather until 1972

The Alp'Arena is the municipal ice stadium of Gap. Its ice measures 60 by 30 metres, with 2,167 seats and room for up to 2,930 people. Ice sport in the town goes back to the creation of the Gap Hockey Club in 1937, when the rink was natural and sat on the old ice house in the Blâche district. It was inaugurated in 1955.

Artificial ice arrived in 1962 with an ammonia refrigeration system. In 1972 a steel-deck roof on a glulam frame finally covered a rink that had been open to snow and rain. The building was entirely renovated in 2012 and became the Alp'Arena.

The Rapaces de Gap hockey club, Ligue Magnus champions in 2015 and 2017, train and play here, and the figure-skating club Axel Gap trains and competes on the same ice. The stadium doubles as an exhibition hall for local events such as the Gap Foire expo and the Gap Good Game.
