The Dunakapu téri jégpálya is a mobile outdoor rink built each winter in the centre of Győr, a few minutes' walk from Széchenyi tér. It is run mainly for the Advent season and has been described by its operator as one of the town's best-loved winter attractions, drawing several thousand visitors a year.
The rink works in 90-minute sessions with ice resurfacing in between, and a heated changing tent stands beside it. Last season the programme included a skating show on Friday and Saturday evenings and an ice revue on Sundays.
Because the ice is outdoors, the weather can change the opening hours, and when the rink closes for the winter skaters are pointed to the covered Győri Egyetemi Jégsport Központ in Kiskútliget.
