A 60 by 30 m main rink and a 46 by 18 m sub rink opened in Uji in 2019 for Kyoto's skaters
The Kinoshita Academy Kyoto Ice Arena opened on 15 December 2019 on land provided by Kyoto Prefecture. It is owned by an association founded by members of the Kyoto skating and ice hockey federations and run by Patineleisure, and the Kinoshita Group holds the naming rights. The building cost 1.85 billion yen on a site of about 17,000 square metres.
It has two rinks: an international-size main rink of 60 by 30 metres and a 46 by 18 metre sub rink that takes three curling sheets. They are used mainly for practice, with temporary stands for spectators, and curling needs a hire booking because it takes over the ice.
The arena appears in the figure skating manga Medalist, which features it as a setting. Drinks and snacks come from vending machines, with no food sold inside.
