Opened in November 2023 after the old Mainz ice hall closed

The ICE DOME in the Messepark Mainz opened for the first time on 15 November 2023. It came about after the city of Mainz suddenly closed the old ice hall at Bruchweg in mid-September, and it was made possible with the help of the Mainzer Messegesellschaft and the Förderverein Eissport für Mainz.

The first version was a stop-gap in the tent where the Mainz Oktoberfest is normally held, with an 800 square metre ice surface for skating, ice stock sport and ice hockey. The first ice disco followed within days.

Several clubs are based in the hall: the ice hockey and bandy teams of the Mainzer Wölfe, Schlanker Fuß and the Wiesbaden Vikings, and the figure skaters of the Mainzer Eissport Club, the Ice Academy Mainz and RSC Wiesbaden.
