A year-round rink in the Expo park outside Nagoya

The ice rink of Moricoro Park, officially the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park in Nagakute, was installed on 16 November 1994 together with a heated pool. During the 2005 Expo the building served as the Global House and the rink could not be used; the pool closed on 30 September 2018, while the rink carries on.

It advertises that it is open even in midsummer and runs all year except when competitions or shows take over the hall. Even in midsummer the building stays at around 10 degrees, so visitors are advised to wear long sleeves and long trousers. The rink is described as big enough to host ice shows, and the second-floor stands are open to spectators free of charge.

The hall has an inner and an outer rink, and pucks are allowed only on the inner one. The rink also appears as a setting in the figure-skating manga Medalist.

Skating with children

Parents of children who need help with their skates can get a companion pass at the counter, which admits them as far as the locker room, not onto the ice.
