The Eiszeit is Villach's free winter rink, set up on the Rathausplatz directly in front of the town hall. The city says it runs every year from mid-November to mid-February. The 450-square-metre ice surface sits in the middle of the Villacher Advent, whose 2026 programme opens on 13 November with an opening show at the Eiszeit.
The rink's look comes from the lights. In the evening skaters circle under a lit canopy, with the parish church tower dressed in 120,000 lights in view. The team of the Stadthalle Villach runs the rink together with city departments, and new boards were installed for the 2025 season.
Villach's tourism board describes it as the temporary rink at Rathausplatz where skating is free in the winter months, in addition to the public sessions at the Stadthalle.

Skates can be hired on site. The 2025/26 prices were €3.50 for children and young people up to 18 and €5.50 for adults from 19; the Stadthalle's sharpening service was €7 a pair.
