Home rink of Canton Minor Hockey and the St. Lawrence Figure Skating Club

The Canton Recreational Pavilion on Outer Lincoln Street is a municipal building that Canton uses all year: an indoor event center in summer and the community ice rink in winter. The ice season runs from October to mid-March, when a full-size artificial ice surface goes down on the floor. Village and town officials have met with the groups that use the aging building to discuss their concerns and ways to fund future upgrades.

Inside, the rink still has its original wood bleachers, an elevated scorekeeping area above the ice and a heated lobby with spectator seating for anyone who would rather watch in the warm. The Pavilion is home ice for Canton Minor Hockey, the St. Lawrence Figure Skating Club and both the Canton Central School girls' and boys' varsity hockey teams, along with several adult hockey groups. The figure skating club runs its programs through US Figure Skating, and its 2026–27 season on the ice opens on October 13.

The Pavilion's Riley Community Room has been slated for renovation, with new lighting, soundproofing and other improvements planned. An outdoor rink sits beside the building, and in February 2026 North Country Public Radio profiled three friends who pitch in to scrape, snowblow and clear it so kids in the community have a smooth place to skate.
