Opened in 1976 with the 500-seat Billy Gebbie Arena, home of the Alexandria Glens junior B team
The Glengarry Sports Palace opened in 1976. It includes a branch of the SD&G County Library, a community hall, two baseball diamonds, a soccer field and the 500-seat Billy Gebbie Arena. The arena has been the home of the Alexandria Glens since 1976, and the Alexandria Figure Skating Club also skated there from 1976 to 2010.
Local minor hockey, girls' hockey and the ladies' ball hockey league also use the rink. The Glens won game seven of the 2007 EOJBHL championship series here, beating the Gatineau Mustangs 4-0 to take the series four games to three, and the team's retired numbers, 4 for Marc Ménard and 3 for Brian Filion, hang from the rafters. When the ice is out, the floor hosts the Chamber of Commerce trade show and, every third year, the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner.
North Glengarry council voted unanimously on May 11, 2020 to rename the community hall the Salle Michel Depratto Hall, after a councillor who had managed the Sports Palace for many years and loved minor hockey. The Glens franchise became the Glengarry Brigade in 2024, and the team plays at the Glengarry Sports Palace and Char-Lan Rec Centre.
