Walkley Arena since 1964, two pads since 1984

Jim Durrell Recreation Centre opened in 1964 as the single-pad Walkley Arena. The complex took its current name in 1984, when the Jim Peplinski Arena was built inside the building and made it a dual-pad arena.

Both sheets are NHL-sized. The Walkley Arena is the original pad; the Jim Peplinski Arena is the bigger of the two, with 2,000 seats, and has been home to the Ottawa Jr. Senators of the Central Canada Hockey League since 1984. The largest crowd ever to watch a game in the complex came on April 23, 2016, when 1,131 fans saw the Jr. Senators win.

City programming at the centre covers hockey, ringette, sledge hockey and figure skating, and with two NHL sheets under one roof the building is set up for tournaments. A community room for special events sits alongside the arenas.
