Smiths Falls' single-pad arena that replaced the Bears Den
The Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre is a single-pad, 46,000 sq. ft. arena. This brand new community centre replaced the old Bears Den, which had housed the local Junior A hockey team for more than 50 years.
The Memorial Community Centre features an NHL-sized ice surface with seating for 1500 people. The new arena also has change rooms, concessions, offices, a community centre, a running track and facilities for the Junior A hockey club. It is home to the Smiths Falls Jr. A and Jr. B Bears Hockey Club and to the Smiths Falls Senior A Rideaus Hockey Club.
The facility includes an indoor multi-speed track. The town's Youth Arena has an ice surface sized at 185' x 80' with seating for 300 people, so the Memorial Community Centre and Youth Arena together feature two indoor ice surfaces.
