Skate Sharpening at Orange County Sportsplex
Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsborough is a community sports centre with an ice rink, a pool, a field house and a gym, run for Orange County at the western edge of the Triangle. Its front desk takes hockey and figure skates for sharpening.
Most sharpening here is a drop-off service: leave the skates at the desk, pay when you hand them over, and come back for them a couple of days later. That suits skaters who keep a second pair or who plan ahead before a weekend game.
Sharpening on the spot depends on a trained staff member being free. On most nights that person is the Zamboni driver, who will not take skates if the job would hold up the ice resurfacing. If you need skates done before a game, call the front desk first and arrive well ahead of the start, so staff have time to finish them.
