A tent-covered downtown rink run by the Halsey family since 2014
Currently out of season Modesto On Ice's FAQ says the tent-covered rink is open every day from Saturday, November 21, 2026 through Monday, January 18, 2027, including holidays; tickets go on sale November 1. Official schedule update
Modesto On Ice is a tent-covered outdoor rink at K and 11th Streets in downtown Modesto, locally owned and operated by the Halsey family. It has been a family favorite since 2014, and its site counts the coming season as the 11th. The family describes itself as long-time locals who are honored to share the rink with the community.
The rink, party tent and snack shack are all under cover, so skating goes on in the rain. The ice is resurfaced with a Zamboni in the ten minutes between sessions, and the skate sharpener once belonged to the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning.
The site bills it as the Central Valley's coolest covered ice rink; it opens each year from mid-November through mid-January for skaters of all ages and offers group skating lessons that fill quickly.
