Stockton's arena since 1970
Oak Park Ice Rink opened in 1970, replacing Stockton's previous arena at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, which had ceased operation. It is one of only a handful of public ice skating rinks in California, and it has run in the city's Oak Park since its opening day.
The building holds a single 200-by-85-foot sheet with six-foot glass and curved bench-end glass, and there is seating for 350 spectators, with rink capacity listed at 200 to 250. The rink is the home facility for the Stockton Colts Jr Hockey Club and the Stockton Figure Skating Club, and beyond public skating, hockey and figure skating it also hosts curling.
The facility and staff keep hockey's old-school roots, and the arena still hosts a full range of events, from children's birthdays to weddings.
