A 47,571-square-foot warehouse inside a City of Keene building, rebuilt into a single-sheet arena in 2015.
Loading public skate, freestyle, and stick & puck times for Keene Ice…
Keene Ice was carved out of an existing 47,571-square-foot warehouse space inside a building the City of Keene owns, with the work completed in 2015. The conversion went far beyond a fit-out: the entire building structure and roof came down along with three-quarters of the existing slab, while the city police station and public works department kept operating in the same building to the east and west of the site.
What stands there now is a single regulation-size rink with six team locker rooms and viewing areas along the ice, laid out with room for bleachers to be added later. The Keene Figure Skating Club is the figure-skating presence in the building and skates on its freestyle ice, which is also open to skaters who are not club members.
Keene Youth Hockey runs its programs here, and the Noah King Ice Hockey Scholarship goes each year to a child enrolled in one of them. The rink also hosts the Boston Bruins’ Learn to Play program, presented by Pure Hockey, for aspiring youth hockey players working on their skills.
