Merikarvia's municipal ice hall, completed in 2013, with public skating on four days a week and ice camps
Merikarvia's ice hall was completed in 2013, and the primary school, the lower secondary school, the upper secondary school, the day-care centre and the other services of the village centre stand right next to it. The temperature in the ice area is kept at plus 4 degrees, there are four changing rooms and a separate referee room, and the ice is resurfaced at the start of a session when needed, which takes about ten minutes.
The hall has years of experience of running ice camps: hockey teams as well as formation and figure-skating clubs have trained there, and the packages can include accommodation, meals, sauna and swimming. It also works closely with local companies, so staff days built around skating can be arranged. Public skating is held on four days a week from 13 September, with its own sessions in the autumn break.
