Built by private investors in 2000-01, city-owned since 2003, home ice for UW club hockey
The Laramie Ice & Event Center was built in 2000-01 by private investors. The City of Laramie bought it in 2003 with specific-purpose tax money and has run it as a municipal rink since. In June 2014 the city started a more than $2 million expansion covering both the Ice & Event Center and the Laramie Recreation Center.
It is a single-sheet building: a 200-by-85-foot open floor with a lobby and a small meeting room alongside. The University of Wyoming's men's and women's club hockey teams train here and play their home games on this ice. The Laramie Amateur Hockey Club fields USA Hockey teams from 8U to 18U plus an all-girls 19U, the High Altitude Skating Club runs figure skating, and Naughty Pines Roller Derby, a skater-owned flat-track league, uses the floor as well. In 2024 the arena also counted broomball, the Wyoming Collegiate Figure Skating Club and the Outlaw Youth Hockey Program among its residents.
The ice is seasonal. It comes out every summer, and the 2026-27 season opened at the start of September 2026 with the ice staying in through March 2027. Curling returned for the 2026-27 season, and Skate with Santa is an annual event here.
