Simcoe's arena since 1946

Talbot Gardens opened in Simcoe in 1946 and holds about 1,000 people. During the 1990s the arena was given a facelift to look more like Maple Leaf Gardens, the former home of the Toronto Maple Leafs: the architecture was rearranged and the building received a new coat of paint. Local sponsors, most notably Tim Hortons, decorate the scoreboard and the inside of the rink.

From 1989 the building was home to Simcoe's junior hockey club, which played as the Simcoe Storm until 2017 and as the Simcoe Shamrocks for one more season before moving to Hespeler in 2018. Some Shamrocks games were broadcast on weekends on Community Cable Channel 5.

Part of the arena also houses a preschool, which replaced the Campbell Clark Preschool, and roller hockey takes over the floor in summer. A mixed-gender charity hockey game on Family Day has become a tradition here, letting spouses play alongside each other in a non-competitive game.
