Renamed for Hall of Famer Harry Howell in 2014
Harry Howell Twin Pad Arena opened as the North Wentworth Community Centre and took its current name at a ceremony on October 18, 2014. Howell was born in Hamilton and played minor hockey in the Hamilton Police Minor League, then spent a franchise-record 1,160 games on the New York Rangers’ blue line, winning the Norris Trophy in 1967. He entered the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979.
The arena is home to the Flamborough Hockey Association, the Flamborough Girls Hockey Association and the Flamboro Skating Club, and the Wentworth Gryphins play their home games here.
The City has announced that the building will become the training and practice base of an AHL team, adding a two-level training area for the team’s own use.
