Reopened in 2019 after a two-year rebuild
J.L. Grightmire Arena on Market Street South is the arena of the Dundas Real McCoys, a senior hockey team based in the town. The building closed in the fall of 2017 for its first major renovation since 1982, and the City cut the ribbon on the reopened arena on September 14, 2019.
The work added nearly 20,000 square feet on three floors, two above grade and one below, with an elevator to every level. There are six new change rooms, two of them barrier-free with direct access to the ice, a second-floor viewing area and a new 200-metre walking track circling the bowl.
A new chiller plant makes and keeps the ice, and the new concession reuses equipment from the Hockeyville renovations.
