Fremont's rink since April 2004

Sidner Ice Arena was built in 2003 and 2004 and opened in April 2004. A donation from the Sidner family, added to money raised across the Fremont community, paid for the project, and the rink sits inside the Fremont Family YMCA facility.

The arena is a 40,000-square-foot pre-engineered metal building with load-bearing masonry walls, and it holds one NHL-size rink. The Fremont Ice Association teams and Midland University's men's and women's hockey teams use it as home ice; Fremont Flyers Youth Hockey and Midland's ACHA Division 1 men's team are listed among the arena's affiliates. The Lou Rinkside Brews, in the southwest corner of the building, opens during most tournaments and hockey games.

By 2023 the ice had fallen into disrepair. The rink closed on April 8, 2024, and the community raised $1.45 million in donations to replace it: nearly 18 miles of heating and cooling coil piping went in under a new concrete overlay. The arena reopened in September 2024 with a new NHL-sized surface, and management passed at the reopening from the YMCA to SETT, LLC, which operates Sidner Ice Arena today.
